Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) Medication
NICE – the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, which advises the NHS on use of medicines - is expecting to approve Mounjaro (also known as Tirzepatide) for some patients from 23rd June 2025.
A weight-loss service using "Mounjaro" is being planned by NHS organisations, but please note that further details are still to be confirmed.
Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) is a new medicine that helps people lose weight. Further information on this, including frequently asked questions can be found on the North East and North Cumbria’s Integrated Care Board’s website (see below)
You will see from this information that Castlegate & Derwent Surgery have been advised this will be live from 23rd June 2025, at the present moment we have not been informed as to how exactly this will work, who the providers will be or what the criteria for this will be…
Please help us by not contacting Castlegate & Derwent Surgery about this currently, as we do not have any further information as to the process at this time. However, we will of course share this relevant information with you when it becomes available.
