Patient update 20.03.20
We would like to thank all our patients for your messages of support. It is a difficult time and your support is crucial as we make changes to systems, thank you.
Visitors to the building- From today we have implemented a screening system for all visitors to the building, a member of staff will be present at the front entrance and ask you a number of screening questions. Your cooperation is key to the smooth running and safety of fellow patients and staff. Please do not attend the surgery unless you have been invited to do so by one of our clinicians or pharmacy. Please telephone our Reception on 01900 705750 or Castlegate Pharmacy, Cockermouth Health Centre on 01900 826018 with any enquiries DO NOT visit the surgery.
Fit notes- we are receiving a lot of enquiries about the issuing of fit notes. The advice we have received is:
By law, medical evidence is not required for the first 7 days of sickness. For any period of illness less than 7 days you can self- certify. A copy can be downloaded from our website
In light of the emerging COVID-19 crisis it is likely a vast amount of people will be self-isolating in accordance with advice provided by the Government and Public Health. In these cases, your GP will not be able to issue you a sick note. We expect your employer to be sympathetic towards the circumstances.
General Practice is under a lot of pressure and needs to prioritise the healthcare needs of patients who are acutely unwell. We hope that you understand the current situation and sorry for any inconvenience.
After 7 days please visit www.111.nhs.uk or speak with your employer.
