Castlegate & Derwent Surgery Isel Road, Cockermouth, CA13 9HT Tel: 01900 705750

We are pleased to confirm to patients that NHS England have approved a full merger of the two surgeries which means that from Monday 5th September patients will have access to see any GP regardless of which surgery they were previously registered with.

As part of this we are required to merge our clinical systems which will take place over the weekend of Friday 2nd September in order to minimalise disruption for patients.  However access to our services will have to be reduced on Friday 2nd and Monday 5th September whilst this work is undertaken.  We will be running an emergency only session on Friday afternoon and we would like to ask patients to attend only if their problem is an emergency.

Appointments for routine blood tests for previous Derwent patients will not be available for the week commencing 29th August 2016, patients are asked to attend the following week to ensure results are processed and received.

Our dispensary will be closed from Friday 2nd September and re-open as usual on Wednesday 7th September whilst work is undertaken to transfer prescription information to the new system.  Patients are kindly asked to ensure their prescriptions for repeat medication is ordered in advance of Friday 2nd September – prescriptions will be available to collect over the closed period but new requests will not be able to be processed.

The prescription lines will only be available until 12 noon on Friday 2nd September – please try and advance order.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Questions you may have:

I have ordered my prescription in advance but can I still collect whilst the dispensary is closed?

Yes, collection is available but new requests will not be processed until the system is live on Wednesday 7th September.

I need to be seen urgently on Friday 2nd September?

If your request is urgent please contact the surgery as usual.

What number should I call on Monday 5th September after the merger has happened?

Continue to use both surgery numbers, they will both be operational, same applies for prescription line.

When will I be able to see any GP from the surgery?

Once our systems have been merged on Monday 5th September patients can chose any GP to see.

I need to order my repeat prescription on Friday 2nd or Monday 5th September?

Lines will be closing at 12 noon on Friday 2nd and the answer machine will be available however we are unable to process any   requests once the line has closed until our system is operational again on Monday 5th, therefore you may experience a delay.

I am a Derwent patient and require an routine blood test?

Please arrange for an appointment week commencing 5th September rather than week commencing 29th August to ensure results are received.

I require a home visit on Friday 2nd September?

Please contact the surgery before 10.30am.

I am a Derwent patient, will I be able to use Patient Access?

Patient Access will not be available for Derwent Patients until the merger is complete.
